Who is affected by domestic abuse?

One woman in four will experience domestic abuse in her lifetime. It affects all women, regardless of age, education, class, lifestyle or religion; the Jewish community is no different to any other.

A woman experiencing domestic violence or abuse may be anyone you come into contact with – your mother, your sister, your daughter, a friend, colleague or neighbour. Or it may be you.

Domestic violence and abuse knows no boundaries, and is present in all sectors of the Jewish community, across the spectrum from ultra-orthodox to ultra-secular.

Domestic violence is never the fault of the woman who is experiencing it.  It is always the choice of the perpetrator.
