WONDERFUL WOMEN OF WHITECHAPEL

Special JWA tour of the East End!

new one

Join popular prize-winning Blue Badge Guide and author Rachel Kolsky (above right) on her classic tour visiting sites associated with women who have defined Whitechapel and Spitalfields.

Discover the stories of Queen Alexandra, matron Eva Luckes and brave WWI nurse Edith Cavell, all linked to the Royal London Hospital. Encounter the lives of social workers Alice Model and Miriam Moses, silk designer Anna Maria Garthwaite, and philanthropist Mary Hughes whose name is associated with a local WWII tragedy.

The walk also explores locations related to influential contemporary women such as artist Tracey Emin, author Monica Ali and Lutfun Hussain, founder of the Coriander Club.
