Community Support

Empowering you

The JWA community support service aims to enable and empower you to take back control of your life. Our trained staff will provide you with information, advice and support that is relevant to your own circumstances. Together, we will work to draw up a plan of support according to your specific needs and requirements.

Informing you

We will not judge or force our opinions on you, but we will make sure you are given objective advice and feel believed, never blamed. We’ll help you to understand your options so you can make informed choices.

Supporting you

The support we provide includes:

  • Telephone advice
  • One-to-one meetings
  • Support in referring and accessing other services – both within and outside of JWA
  • Support and assistance in applying for welfare benefits and housing
  • Assistance seeking legal advice, counselling, employment
  • Practical support writing letters and making telephone calls
  • Advocacy support; attending appointments with you – such as at benefit offices, solicitors etc.
  • Someone to listen and offer you emotional support.

Confidentiality

Confidentiality is vitally important to us. You can be absolutely sure that information about you and your situation will not be passed on to anyone else without your knowledge.
