We are very proud that our Safer Dating project has been recognised by Prime Minister Theresa May. In a meeting with the Jewish Leadership Council at No. 10 on September 6th 2017, a broad range of issues related to the Jewish community were discussed. The meeting celebrated the incredible contribution that the Jewish community makes to the country. Amongst these projects was Safer Dating by JWA, launched a year ago, and the impact the project has had in its first year was commended. The project works with 16- 25 year olds, the age group where relationship abuse most commonly starts. It teaches young people how to build and maintain healthy relationships. Research shows that most young adults seek advice and support about relationships from their friends. Our Safer Dating project aims to educate young Jews so that they can support themselves as well as any friends who may confide in them.

Relationship abuse is about one person having power or control over their partner. It can occur in any type of intimate relationship and between ex-partners. It most commonly starts between the ages of 16-25. If you are an institution that works with young people aged between 16 and 25 and you would like to find out more about our project, contact us on 020 8445 8060 or email saferdating@jwa.org.uk.
