Communications Manager - Maternity Leave Cover
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Communications Manager who is passionate about ending violence against women and girls and committed to raising the profile of Jewish Women’s Aid’s services within the Jewish community and beyond.
You will be a skilled communicator with the ability to develop and implement long-term strategic plans while remaining adaptable to emerging priorities. With a strong background in communications management, you will have experience leading communications within a charity and a deep understanding of the community. A self-motivated and collaborative professional with a feminist outlook, you will thrive in a team environment, working effectively with colleagues at all levels across the organisation and with external stakeholders.

SALARY: £37-40,000 pro rata
HOURS: Part-time: 28hrs per week
LOCATION: NW London office with possibility of some hybrid working
PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
Jewish Women’s Aid (JWA) is looking for an experienced Communications Manager to maintain and enhance our public profile across the Jewish community and beyond. This role is vital in ensuring that JWA’s message reaches key audiences, raising awareness of domestic abuse and sexual violence, and supporting our fundraising and advocacy efforts.
The Communications Manager will oversee all aspects of JWA’s communications, ensuring consistency and impact across digital and print platforms.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Strategic Communications & Media
- Implement and evolve JWA’s Communications Strategy, ensuring alignment with organisational goals.
- Lead proactive media engagement, securing press coverage and showcasing JWA’s impact.
- Act as the main point of contact for media enquiries, drafting press releases and liaising with journalists.
- Monitor and evaluate communications activities to enhance reach and engagement.
Digital & Social Media
- Oversee website content and structure, ensuring information is up to date and engaging.
- Manage JWA’s social media presence, developing and executing content strategies to increase visibility and engagement.
- Create compelling, brand-aligned content for social media, email marketing, and digital campaigns.
- Monitor digital analytics to inform strategy and optimise engagement.
Publications & Campaigns
- Oversee the production of key organisational reports, including the Annual Report, Impact Report, and newsletters.
- Collaborate with the Fundraising Manager on campaigns, appeals, and donor communications.
- Develop high-quality marketing collateral, ensuring consistent branding and messaging.
PERSON SPECIFICATION
Essential Skills & Experience
- Proven experience in implementing a Communications Strategy to raise and maintain the profile of a voluntary organisation.
- Experience in record keeping, measuring impact and outputs, and maintaining administrative systems.
- Strong experience in website management, social media content creation, and literature production.
- Ability to communicate with stakeholders and build online engagement effectively.
- Experience in line managing staff or external service providers.
- Experience working with press and PR agencies, securing media coverage.
- Knowledge and understanding of the effects of domestic abuse and sexual violence on women and children.
- Knowledge and understanding of the Jewish community in Britain.
- Understanding of confidentiality and GDPR regulations in communications.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present information clearly and concisely.
- Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and maintain relationships across a range of stakeholders.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience in monitoring and reporting on communications performance and impact.
- Ability to work independently, taking initiative with limited direction.
- Willingness to undertake evening and weekend work as needed.

Freelance Qualified Children's Therapist In Manchester

You will have an exciting opportunity to work with JWA’s children’s therapy service. You will work in schools and provide individual therapeutic support to children affected by domestic abuse.
We are looking for an experienced children’s therapist who is enthusiastic, proactive and creative. You will have a relevant therapeutic qualification and experience of working with children. You’ll be passionate about supporting children and young people to come to terms with their experience of domestic abuse. Knowledge and understanding of domestic violence and the Jewish community is also essential.

Volunteer Counsellor
Qualified volunteer counsellor to see 2-3 clients a week
JWA’s counselling service provides free person-centred, face-to-face and telephone/ remote counselling to women experiencing all forms of domestic abuse.
The volunteer counsellors will work online with 2-3 clients a week. You will receive regular clinical supervision and CPD opportunities.
We are looking for compassionate, non-judgemental and motivated individuals who are passionate about supporting abuse survivors. You will already have experience of working with vulnerable clients, ideally with women.
Requirements:
- Qualified counsellor at minimum diploma level (BACP, BPC, UKPC or similar accredited) in person centred/integrative counselling
- Good understanding of domestic abuse dynamics
- Knowledge of the Jewish community
- Commitment for minimum of 2 years
